Murugan Endrathume

This kavadi chinthu (I believe) was again taught by my very first gurus, Lalitha (Deepa) akka and Gayathri akka, the then Trivandrum sisters. I don’t know who the composer is for this song. If you know it, please send me the details via a message in the contact page. This ragamalika has five ragas in the order of Huseini, Atana, Shanmughapriya, Hamsanandhi, and Madhyamavathi set in Roopaka thaalam. Hope you enjoy it.

Also, I am beginning to accept students for beginner and intermediate levels of one-on-one online Carnatic vocal music lessons. If you or anyone you know might be interested, do contact me here.

Mahaganapathim Manasa

This krithi by Muthuswami Dikshithar composed in raagam, Naattai, set in Adi thalam was again taught by my very first gurus, Lalitha (Deepa) akka and Gayathri akka, the then Trivandrum sisters. This is also the very first krithi where I started applying Manodharmam in the form of kalpana swaras. Hope you enjoy it.

Gajananayutham - Saadhakam Series

Kick starting my ‘Saadhakam Series’ with this Ganesha krithi, Gajananayutham composed by Sri Muthuswami Dikshithar in the raagam, Chakravakam or Vegavahini in Adi thalam. This is the very first krithi I learned under my very first gurus, Lalitha (Deepa) akka and Gayathri akka, the then Trivandrum sisters. They were disciples of Sri Vechoor N Harihara Subramoniya Iyer. I have so many fond memories learning under them with the other students (read, childhood friends in S S Street, Karamana). As I post this krithi, I bow down before my first gurus who helped me embark this journey of music.

Through this Saadhakam series, I intend to create an online archive of songs I learnt in my childhood.

In other news, I am beginning to accept students for beginner and intermediate levels of one-on-one online Carnatic vocal music lessons. If you or anyone you know might be interested, do contact me here.

A humble beginning in Bollywood

It has been a while since I wrote anything on this blog. However, today is special as I got to know that my rendition of Sri Venkatesa Suprabatham was featured in the beginning (title song) of the Hindi movie, Evening Shadows. You can also see my name in the end credits of the movie. Thanks to the director, Sridhar Rangayan for featuring my voice for his movie. The movie is streaming on Netflix so, do watch it.
