Indirapathi Vilangum

This rare Swathi Thirunal krithi from the Utsavaprabadham series is in raagam, Navaroj or Navarasam. It sounds like a lullaby to me. Here’s my rendition.

Bhaarama Ee Baluni

When Lalitha and Gayatri akkas taught me this GNB krithi, it was the first time I was hearing Hamsanaadam raagam. It felt out of the world especially when I was asked to sing the phrase in anupallavi, “Rakshimchaka leda…”. That sustaining of notes opened up a different dimension inside me and I felt grateful to be learning music. Here’s my rendition of this divine krithi.

This song is a personal favorite and I have lost count as to how many times I have sung this on stage. Here’s the Bombay Jayashree classic composed by Harris Jayaraj.
