Performance at OVK-Bach Fest

I went to the OVK-Bach fest in Middleton, WI in the year 2013. It was one of a kind music fest where stalwarts such as Chithraveena Ravikiran gave a demo on how Oothukkadu Venkata Subbaiyer's (OVK) and Bach’s compositions differed and are similar to each other. I had the privilege to sing an OVK composition, Kuzhaloothi Manamellam in ragam, Kamboji in the fest. Here’s the video of my performance.

P.S: I am accepting students for one-on-one Carnatic vocal lessons. If you are interested, kindly apply here.

Performance at Nox Ingenii, RNCM

During my wonderful stint in the UK, a few student leaders from Manchester Business School had organized a talent show called Nox Ingenii that showcased all kinds of talents from that year’s graduating batch of students. The show was one of a kind and we got to witness talented folks from many parts of the world. I had the privilege to sing as a part of this show at the amazing Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) stage. Here’s a not-so-good quality video/audio of my performance of the Hindi song, Yeh Haseen Waadiyaan from the movie, Roja originally composed by A R Rahman, written P K Mishra, and sung by S P Balasubramiam (SPB) and K S Chithra.

Here’s a good quality studio recording of the same song with my musician friend, Sunil Koshy.

Performance at D M Digital Studios, Manchester

When I was doing my masters program in the UK, I was both missing home and music. Until then, I had been quite active in the independent music scene in Bangalore. Being in a new country, it was tough to find musicians who play the same kind of music as I was. A quick google search led to me Rainbow Raagas, an indie band that played live Indian music to the local audience. I was thrilled to have stumbled upon this team of musicians and then followed the regular rehearsal sessions, gigs, and TV shows. Oh yeah, I did earn a little pocket money as well doing these. Here are a few videos from a TV show we did in the UK featuring the Hindi movie songs, Churaliya hai from Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Deewana hua baadal from Kashmir Ki Kali, and Teri meri meri teri from Bodyguard.

Marivere gathi - Chittaswaram

I recorded this chittaswaram of the Shyama Shastri krithi, Marivere gathi in raagam, Anandabhairavi as an entry for registering in A R Rahman’s Maajja initiative. This krithi is my all time favorite Navaratri devi krithi taught by my guru, Vidya Gangadharan. Hope you enjoy it.

P.S: I am beginning to accept students for beginner and intermediate levels of one-on-one online Carnatic vocal music lessons. If you or anyone you know might be interested, do contact me here.
